It has therefore become necessary to specify the Taluk Panchayat Officers as officers authorised to issue of extracts under Section 17 of the Act. This is intended to achieve the above object. S.R.O. No. 95.- In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 17 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (Central Act 18 of 1969), the Government of Kerala hereby authorise the officers mentioned in column (1) of the Schedule hereto certify the extracts from the register relating to births and deaths in respect of the area noted against each in column (2) thereof, namely:-

S.R.O. No. 653/2014-in exercise of the powers conferred under clause (iii) of sub-section (1) of Section 10 of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (Central Act 18 of 1969), the Government of Kerala hereby specify the in charge or caretaker of cremation ground/burial ground as notifiers of death events in cases of dead bodies attended to by them to the concerned Registrar of Births and Deaths within the time limit prescribed under the Kerala Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 1999.
S.R.O. No. 247/2015.-in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (b) of rule 3 of the Kerala Anand Marriage Registration Rules, 2014, the Government of Kerala hereby authorise the Registrars of Births and Deaths appointed the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (Central Act 18 of 1969) in the local authorities to be the Registrar of Marriage in their respective area of Jurisdiction for exercising the powers conferred under the Kerala Anand Marriages Registration Rules, 2014.
Copy of G.O. Rt. No. 1477/76/LA&SWD dated 16-6-1976 is extracted below for the information of all concerned.
Sub:- Registration of Births and Deaths, Act, 1969 - Appointment of Health Inspectors of municipalities/Township as Registrar of Local areas - clarification issued.
Read:- 1. Letter No. H2-1557/76 dated 23-3-1976 from the Commissioner, Tellicherry Municipality. , 2. Letter No. H3-1693/76 dated 1-4-1976 from the Commissioner, Kottayam Municipality.
As per notification issued in G.O. MS, 242/75/LA&SWD dated 24-11-1975, the Health Inspectors of Municipalities/Township concerned were appointed under Section 7(1) of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1969 as Registrars of Local areas under their respective jurisdiction. It is noticed that in Municipalities having more than one Health Inspectors difficulties are being experienced in implementing the above order. As there could only be one Registrar for a local body, doubts may arise regarding the appointment of Registrars in a Municipality/Township where there are more than one Health Inspectors.
